Cooking Instructions Additions: 2 quarts of water 1 lb. ham (cubed) 2 cups potatoes peeled and diced (or 2 cups southern style frozen hash brown potatoes) 2 teaspoons salt optional croutons and fresh-chopped parsley or mint (to garnish)

To Prepare: Rinse peas and add to water with ham, seasoning packet, and potatoes. Cover and bring to boil. Reduce heat & simmer 1 – 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally. Puree soup in blender or mash potatoes in pot to thicken. Pioneer Split Pea Soup pairs well with hard rolls or garlic bread. Garnish with croutons and fresh chopped parsley or mint for a complete dish!
